VPN Portal - I cannot type @ or £ symbols (affecting ability to type Passwords and other stuff)
You may experience difficulty with the HTML 5 VPN portal if your keyboard is not set correctly. This will affect your ability to enter passwords that contain common symbols (such as @,£) and may cause your login attempt to fail). You can check and fix this issue by following these steps:
- Connect to the NuQleus VPN portal as you would normally (https://ra1.qcha.org.uk). If you are already connected, skip to step 4.
- Click the HTML 5 connections tab.
- Click connect beside your PC from the list below
- If you do not see the top bar “Connection | Clipboard | Keyboard”, hover the mouse directly beneath the address bar and it shall appear. See Image below.
- Go to Keyboard > Keyboard Layout > and select English (GB) if not already selected.
- You should now be able to type special symbols correctly.
Other Considerations:
Apple Mac Keyboards use different key combinations for special symbols (such as the @)
Workarounds:
In most cases, the problem is a US keyboard layout. Shift+2 will give you the @ symbol instead of the marked " on the key (and vice versa)
