Using Your Laptop from Home
WIFI
It is important to check your Home WIFI is on and working, the best test is by using another device to test you home broadband,
“but not a mobile phone unless you know how to turn off mobile data”.
To test simply connect to your home WIFI with another device “PC or Tablet” to test your Broadband,
If this doesn’t work please check your Home router, and maybe restart it.
Remember to also check/ restart your additional WIFI boosters/repeaters devices in each room.
Direct access
Assuming that your broadband is working, and your laptop is showing nearly full bars, we can move on to checking Direct access and workplace settings
To access DirectAccess information in Windows 10, press Window Key + I, click Network & Internet, and then click the DirectAccess tab.
This should display the screen shown.
You will notice that the direct access shows connected if it doesn’t or the status is connecting,
please shut down and start your pc/laptop again, it may also be worth checking the status tab on the screen above,
this will confirm that you are defiantly connected to WIFI and have internet.
Cabled In connection
This is if you are using an ethernet cable to directly connect to your laptop Via a HP Hub,
A good connection would be indicted by two small lights either side of the ethernet Cable on this picture it’s the one marked RJ45.
Your Home Router
These come in various shapes and sizes and there are a few tests you can do as well as restarting the device,
the if the router is working properly and you have had a successful connection on another device, if not and a restart hasn’t worked,
please contact your supplier, remember to try restarting Your Home Additional WIFI adaptors.
