Switch Outlook from Cached Mode to Online Mode
Have you received an e-mail on your phone / Outlook for the web that you haven't received on your Laptop / Desktop Outlook client? Do you have a text warning on your Inbox that reads "This folder was last updated..." referring to sometime in the past? You may be experiencing a caching issue. In most cases, the quickest and simplest solution to this is to configure Outlook in "Online" mode. Follow these steps:
From within Outlook:
1. Click File > Account Settings > Account Settings
2. Click your e-mail address on the “Email” tab and click “Change”
3. Un-check “Use Cached Exchange Mode”. Click through the remaining dialog pages to confirm and close. Restart your Outlook client immediately afterwards as prompted. See below for differences in Outlook version.
