Changing your password from your QCHA Desktop PC or Laptop
Overview You are required to change your QCHA domain account / PC Logon password every 42 days as per the Association ICT Policy. While the password change policy will force youto do this every 42 days, you can change your own password at any time. In doing so, you will reset the expiry date and not require to change your password for another 42 days. Consider the following scenarios (beyond the mandatory 42 day policy requirement) where this might be useful: You are going on annual leave and your password is due to expire while you are off work. You suspect that your account may have been compromised (either by direct issuance of your password to someone else, or via phishing e-mail etc). ALWAYS contact the ICT team if you suspect that this has happened. Process You are already logged in to your user account on QCHA Equipment Press "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete" on your keyboard. The following full screen menu will appear: You will see the "Change a Password" screen. Enter the required details on this screen. Your "Old" password will be the password you used to initially log on to the computer and will be the one you are changing "from". Enter and then confirm the password you wish to change "to" in the remaining two fields. Once you have entered the required data, click the arrow button to the right of the last field (marked in red below): You should receive one of the following password change messages: Successful password change. Your new password is active and you will use this anywhere you login with your QCHA account. You may recieve this warning: Check that your password fulfulls the requirements of the ICT Password Policy Once your password has been changed, you will be returned back to your desktop environment.

Updating Cached/Stored Credentials
Overview: Do you have an a computer application, web page or phone app constantly prompting you for a password where once all was well? Are you consistently locking your account and having to contact ICT? Sounds like you've maybe got a cached credential problem. On the PC / Laptop / Windows Tablet: The most common place to find your stored credentials is in the Windows "Credential Manager". When you update your password, any cached instances of it remain, and Windows Run through the following steps: Depending on your WIndows Taskbar layout, do one of the following: If you have a box marked with a spy glass icon and the text "Type here to search" click in this box. If you have just the spy glass icon, click on this. Either option will result in the following search screen. Type "Credential Manager" in the search box. The credential manager will load. Credentials are split into two categories; Web Credentials and Windows Credentials. In most cases, you'll be looking for the Windows Credential section (usually following a QCHA logon password change) Browse the list and find the credential(s) that you are repeatedly being asked to enter; these may be in the form of "QCHA\USERNAME" or your QCHA.org.uk e-mail address. When you find these, click the down arrow to reveal additional information and options against each entry: Check the modified date. When did you last change your password? If the last modified date is BEFORE the change, said credential is likely causing (or at the very least contributing) to your problem. Check the credential address. Is this a credential that is worth saving at all when weighing this up against the number of times you need to enter it? While we all like a bit of convenience,in the case of your QCHA logon, this will cycle every 42 days. Check the credential address. The following Web applications or gateways DO NOT AND SHOULD NOT have a saved password entry as these are Single-Sign-on / SSO systems that work against your logon WITHOUT YOU NEEDING TO PRESENT A PASSWORD UNDER NORMAL OPERATION. This is not an exhaustive list, so ask if you are unsure. Finally. Click remove. Re-authenticate whichever application is asking for your details when requested. NOTE: If you have been prompted and have attempted to re-enter a password, your account might already be locked. If so, please raise a ticket on the ICT helpdesk either by e-mail (nuqleus@qcha.org.uk), Support portal at https://helpdesk.qcha.org.uk, or alternatively in an emergency call the team on 0141 336 1800. On the Phone: When an app asks you to update your password, provide your new password. Updating passwords on Non-Windows devices is usually far simpler than the above. While the below is not an exhaustive list, it should help you with the ones that are most likely to be affected: Outlook Outlook presents a warning at the bottom of your screen. Tap "Sign in". Enter your e-mail address (if not present) and your new password: Teams Enter your shortform QCHA username in the format of QCHA BACKSLASH first initial surname (e.g. Khearton) Enter your new password. OneDrive OneDrive will warn you that your work account needs attention. Tap OK to proceed: The message will expand. Tap Sign In to correct the issue: Enter your e-mail address if not already present and your new password. Tap Sign in to complete the process. Interact (Source): Enter your shortform QCHA username in the format of QCHA BACKSLASH first initial surname (e.g. Khearton) Enter your new password. Tap "Sign In"
